TD Systems Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz bounced back from a three-game losing streak to prevailed over Fenerbache Beko Istanbul with an 86-68 victory in Round 9 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
Alec Peters outran Fenerbahce’s defense, scoring a new career-high of 25 points and 7 rebounds to lead his team to a 3-4 record.
Following Peters’ lead, Rokas Giedratis added 19 points and Zoran Dragic finished the game with 16, while Luca Vildoza had 11 points and 7 boards.
Fenerbahce led with an early 9-0 run in the game but soon enough the hosts recovered, to take a double-digit lead in the second quarter and eventually lead the first half 45-36. Midway through the third quarter, Baskonia extended its lead to 13 points (53-40) before Fenerbahce’s veterans stepped up for an 8-0 run. Back to back threes restored the lead for the hosts that never looked back in the game.
Fenerbahce suffered its second consecutive defeat and falls to a 4-5 record and will look to bounce back on Thursday against Real Madrid.
Jan Vesely led all scorers of Igor Kokoskov’s squad with 15 points, Kenan Sipahi and Dyshawn Pierre added 11 points each and Lorenzo Brown had 10 points and five assists.
