Real Madrid won its fourth straight game in EuroLeague by prevailing over a sloppy Maccabi Tel Aviv 79 – 63 at home. The “Blancos” improved to 5-4 while their opponents fell to 3-6 following one poor display on both ends.
In what Pablo Laso described as “probably one of our best performances of the year” of Real Madrid this season, the Spanish coach saw a lot of his players contributing to the victory. Gabriel Deck scored a game-high 16 points and Anthony Randolph dropped 15 points plus seven rebounds, Edy Tavares had 10 points plus eight boards while Sergio Llull had 10 point.
In the meantime, Facu Campazzo called the shots on offense with his season-high 12 assists that went along his nine points.
From a disoriented and ineffective overall Maccabi squad, Scottie Wilbekin finished with 18 points (five turnovers, one assist) and Ante Zizic posted 14 points and 10 rebounds. Maccabi fell behind 29 – 18 early after a fiery first quarter by Real Madrid and had to play catch-up for the remainder of the game.
Real never allowed its opponents to become seriously dangerous though or, if you will, Maccabi never helped themselves by committing numerous mistakes (17 turnovers for eight assists) and failing to make shots from the perimeter (5-20 3-pointers).
In the fourth period, Real just finished the job and now looks ahead to Friday’s game vs. Fenerbahce Beko. Maccabi will look to bounce back against Valencia on the road.
