Peyton Siva destroyed LDLC ASVEL Lyon Villeurbanne with the game-winning shot of the night, handing ALBA Berlin a 76-75 victory in Round 9 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague on Moustapha Fall’s career-high night.
The French big man went out with a double-double of 25 points on 10 out of 12 FG, along with 10 boards and four assists for a total PIR of 42, though his outstanding performance wasn’t enough as Siva had the final say and executed the French team from the three-point line with just a second left on the clock. He left the court with a total of 10 points after just returning to action.
“It feels great to be back out there on the court. I’m just happy to play basketball again. Especially being down with COVID, I didn’t know when or if I’d be back, so it was great to be back out there with my teammates. I didn’t expect to play that much but I was trying to stay ready in case my name was called.”It feels great to be back out there on the court. I’m just happy to play basketball again. Victory-starved ASVEL remained in charge of the game from start to finishing, leading with as much as 13 early in the fourth period, though the German side reacted to trim the deficit before crunch time. Siva made it a one-point game with 37 seconds remaining before Allerik Freman (11 points) restored ASVEL’s lead, but only for a little while.
Luke Sikma paced all scorers of Aito Garcia Reneses’ squad with 16 points, two rebounds and two assists and Niels Giffey tapped 10 points.
ASVEL has completed its duties for the week since the game against Olympiacos has been suspended and set to be rescheduled to a later date, though ALBA will look to turn this victory into a streak when they face Zenit at home with hopes to improve their 2-5 record.
