FC Barcelona remains unstoppable as they enjoyed a 76-65 victory against Crvena Zvezda at home for Round 10 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague to extend their winning streak to 7 games and their overall record to 8-1.
Nikola Mirotic once again worked wonders for Barcelona’s offense, adding up 23 points and three rebounds to lead all scorers for Sarunas Jasikevicius’ squad. Pierre Oriola followed with 12 points, while Nick Calathes added 10 points and 8 assists. All Barca players produced at least two points tonight, adding up to a collective effort into the win.
“Every match in the EuroLeague is tough. Every time you are going to play against a physical team you have to match the intensity, physicality. I think we did it for the most part. In general, I am pretty happy because I thought we had a pretty strange week with practices and everything”, commented Jasikevicius after the game.
Barcelona managed to keep a 20-point lead for most of the second half, after leading 39-22 by halftime and never looked back since, despite a late run by the Serbian side that made it a 7-point game with a little over two minutes to play. A slight scare for the Blaugranas though they managed to overcome their feisty opponents in crunch time.
Zvezda couldn’t turn the victory against Olimpia Milano in Round 9 into a streak as they now fall to a 4-6 record. Dejan Davidovac paced the visitors with 12 points, Duop Reath had 9 points and Emanuel Terry added 9 points and 6 rebounds. Barcelona’s defense worked perfectly on keeping Jordan Loyd at bay, as he finished the game with 2 points in 22 minutes.
