ALBA Berlin extended its winning streak to two games after celebrating a comfortable 89-63 victory against Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul in Round 13 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. Aito Garcia Reneses’ squad now improves to a 5-7 record. This marks the team’s third win in the last three rounds, though they fell to Olimpia Milano in a Round 6 makeup game early last week.
Despite Nando De Colo’s return, Fener couldn’t keep up its tempo after beating Zenit last week and registered its second-worst performance of the season in points scored (55 in a loss to Barcelona).
The German side gained momentum early and remained in control for the entire game, sealing a 31-point lead by the end of the third quarter, taking full advantage of its rotation as Reneses’ players all produced 3 points or more.
Niels Giffey led the way with 13 points, Peyton Siva posted 11, as youngster Kresimir Nikic, Maodo Lo and Johannes Thiemann tapped 10 points each.
On the other end of the court, Fener’s rotation seemed to struggle a lot and couldn’t find many open lines around the perimeter. De Colo finished the game with 2 points in 16 minutes upon his return, while Tarik Biberovic was the only player to finish the game in double digits, adding 13 points.
