Panathinaikos OPAP will part ways with Georgios Vovoras, per multiple reports in Greece. The Greens are expected to confirm their decision via a press release.
Vovoras, 43, was appointed head coach to start the 2020-21 season. He previously served as an interim head coach in four separate stints.
Under his guidance this season, Panathinaikos is 5-11 in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and 7-1 at the domestic level. Sunday’s loss to Lavrio Megabolt will mark his last game.
The Greek powerhouse will move on handing over the reins to the next head coach. Any potential roster adjustments will follow depending on the input provided by the successor of Vovoras.
UNICS Kazan boss Dimitrios Priftis is a rumored option but buying out his current contract with the Russian club complicates his case. Sotiris Manolopoulos returning for a second run as the head coach initially seems a more affordable option.
