Hapoel Jerusalem coach Oded Kattash is currently the leading candidate for Panathinaikos‘ vacant head coach position according to Israeli website Walla. Kattash had won the EuroLeague with Panathinaikos as player in 2000.
While Panathinaikos is said to has set Kattash as a priority among potential candidates (the list included Unics Kazan coach Dimitris Prifits), the Israeli coach is under contract with Hapoel for the rest of the season. If hes’s convinced to join Panathinaikos, then he will need to also reach a contract termination agreement with Hapoel which will require him to pay some form of buyout, in order to be free to take over the Greek powerhouse.
Kattash was a former teammate of Panathinaikos co-general manager Fragkiskos Alvertis.
