Oded Kattash and Panathinaikos OPAP agreed to a deal until 2022. The buyout talks with Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem are still ongoing but expected to be finalized soon.
Kattash had won the EuroLeague with Panathinaikos as a player in 2000 and was a former teammate of Panathinaikos co-general manager Fragkiskos Alvertis.
His playing career lasted ten years but ended prematurely due to an injury. He went on to coaching and has spent all 14 years so far in Israel.
This will be his first coaching stint outside and it’s quite symbolic that it will be for PAO as the Greens were also the first club outside Israel he played for as a player.
Kattash has been coaching Hapoel Jerusalem since 2018, leading them to win three Cups as well as establish themselves as a top team in the Basketball Champions League.
