Real Madrid center Alex Tyus said that the Spanish powerhouse had contacted his side about him before the beginning of the season. The situation didn’t advance past talks then since – according to the veteran center – Real was also exploring options in other positions in light of Facu Campazzo’s departure for the NBA.
Tyus eventually signed with Real this January and after forward Anthony Randolph’s season-ending injury.
Per Walla:
“They were talking to my agent a lot in August and September, but they were also looking at other things with Campazzo going to the NBA.
So I knew that if I signed with a Euroleague team I would not have been able to leave, so Galatasaray gave me the opportunity to play for them for a couple of months”
So I could help them and also stay in shape, after all that happened last season with the pandemic.”
