Fenerbahce dominates Khimki in historic win

Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul used a strong third quarter to dominate Khimki Moscow Region on the road and grab a 107-76 victory in Round 23 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. The team tied their highest-scoring win along with their eighth straight victory to move up to a 13-10 record.

Adding up to the list of records, Fener grabbed its highest-ever difference with 34 points while also dishing a new club record of 29 assists.

After a high-paced first half that ended 53-44 in Fenerbahce’s favor, the visiting side completely took control to dominate the third period with an 11-0 run at first and eventually getting ahead with their highest lead up to that point, 83-57.

Nando De Colo led the race for Igor Kokoskov’s squad with 18 points on 7-9 FG, along with 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Multiple players exited the game in double-digits as Lorenzo Brown followed with 17 points and 6 assists, Jan Vesely dropped 15 points, Marko Guduric and Dyshawn Pierre added 14 points respectively.

“It was a very tricky game, very tough game, tough opponent because they were relaxed, they were loose and they played with guys who are capable of creating their own shots. A good win for us. Our game plan was just do what we do and focus on ourselves and get better”, said coach Kokoskov after the game.

Alexey Shved posted a game-high for Khimki with 29 points and 6 assists though committed 7 turnovers. Evgeny Voronov added 11 points and Errick McCollum left the court with 9 points. Fenerbahce added up to Khimki’s woes with this stunning victory, as the latter falls further down the standings with a 2-21 record.
