Wade Baldwin roared above ALBA Berlin’s basket to lead FC Bayern Munich to a 101-95 victory in Round 24 of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague, to improve to a 15-9 record and sweep their German rivals in overtime.
After an intense battle in the second half, Baldwin powered Bayern’s comeback late in the fourth quarter with back-to-back points to even the score at 87 points with 9 seconds to go, sending the game to overtime. He finished the game with a total of 21 points, along with 7 assists and a key contribution in the extra five-minute period for the hosts.
Jalen Reynolds recorded a new career-high for Andrea Trinchieri’s squad with 24 points, Paul Zipser had 20 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists and Vladimir Lucic contributed 20 points as well. Dennis Seeley added up to the list of top scorers for the hosts with 10 points.
“There are some games that can kill you or can give you a huge boost. We were trailing, they were better for 35 minutes. They had more energy, we were heavy, we were unable to put any pressure. Then we condensed our best effort for the last five minutes of the game and the five minutes of overtime”, said Trinchieri after the game.
Simone Fontecchio paced Aito Garcia Reneses’ squad with a new career-high of 21 points and 4 rebounds, Lammers and Maodo Lo tapped 20 and 16 points respectively and Marcus Eriksson left the court with 11 points.
