Former Barcelona guard Thomas Heurtel said that while he has received a couple of offers from European clubs (one of them ASVEL Villeurbanne in his native France) he hasn’t yet decided if he will accept one of those proposals to finish the season with a team.
“I received proposals from many European clubs, including one from Asvel. But I have not yet made a decision on whether or not to end the season with a club,” Heurtel said in a presser ahead of February’s 2022 EuroBasket Qualifiers, per L’Equipe. The French playmaker will be making his national team return after missing the 2019 World Cup due to injury. “This choice encompasses several things, including preparing my body for the important seasons that are coming. I will make my decision in the days to come.”
“If I choose to join a team, you will know when the time comes,” Heurtel added.
Heurtel and Barcelona mutually agreed to part ways in January. The player hadn’t been on coach Sarunas Jasikevicius’ plans and the relationship between him and the club reached its end point when he wasn’t allowed to join the team on a plane from Istanbul to Barcelona, following reports that he was negotiating with Real Madrid.
