The latest BarcaGate chapter includes the arrest of former FC Barcelona president and CEO, Josep Maria Bartomeu, according to several Spanish media outlets. Oscar Grau, Roman Gomez Ponti, and Jaume Masferrer were detained as well.
The corruption investigation dubbed BarcaGate alleges that Bartomeu hired a social media company to create fake accounts targeting various people, even FC Barcelona football stars. Bartomeu and the Spanish powerhouse have denied accusations.
The local police raiding the club offices Monday secured documents relating to the case.
