Jordi Bertomeu visited Athens in order to attend Panathinaikos OPAP Athens and Olympiacos Piraeus’ Round 29 games against Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv and Zenit St Petersburg respectively and during his visit, he spoke to NOVA TV about the updated Fair Play Regulations that have helped Panathinaikos balance its earnings and expenses this season.
“For many years we have been using it as a mantra that clubs have to be very strict about managing their budgets, not spending more money than they earn. I’m happy to say that at this moment, more than half of our teams are based on this “break-even” concept, and also the financial fair play regulation (FFP) is helping the clubs to be more professional and accurate”, told Bertomeu. “What Panathinaikos is doing this season is exactly aligned with EuroLeague policies, since many years.”
