TD Systems Baskonia’s Tonye Jekiri will remain sidelined six to eight weeks after suffering a right knee injury, the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and ACB team announced Monday.
Jekiri, 26, picked up the injury during the ACB Regular Season Round 27 derby against RETAbet Bilbao held on Sunday.
The Nigerian center was putting up 6.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.4 blocks per contest over 30 EuroLeague appearances this season. His side at 16-14 is half a win away from the top eight spots leading to the playoffs.
He also averaged 6.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.0 steals per ACB game. Baskonia, 20-6, currently ranks third behind Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
