ALBA Berlin ended a four-game losing streak to bounce back with an 81-58 win over Crvena Zvezda at home, to end this season’s Turkish Airlines EuroLeague run with a 12-22 record.
Peyton Siva led the hosts with a game-high performance of 17 points and 8 assists, Simone Fontecchio had 13 points and 6 rebounds, Marcus Eriksson tapped 12 and Ben Lammers added 8 points and 4 rebounds. ALBA managed to keep their rivals at a low-scoring mark in the second period to get ahead with a 49-30 lead at halftime, which they held on to until the end to finish the regular season on a positive note.
“It felt good to get the win. It was good to see Landry [Nnoko] again. Happy for our team. We went out and played aggressive, played with a lot of energy and glad to get the win. We knew they had a long travel. We just tried to wear them out. We did a good job crashing the glass and containing Loyd, who is a helluva scorer. That is what worked for us tonight”, said scoring-leader Siva after the win.
Marko Simonovic posted 12 points for the Serbian side and Jordan Loyd followed with 10 points, while Landry Nnoko added 7 points and 11 boards. Zvezda ends a tough season with a 10-24 record with its fifth straight defeat, at the second to last spot of the overall standings.
