Gabriel Deck bids goodbye to Real Madrid as he is signing a deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder. According to reports by AS, Deck’s deal is worth $4M per year for 4 years, though is not guaranteed for the three campaigns after the current one.
With this move, the Thunder will be able to reach their current salary cap floor, which is the minimum they have to spend every year. If those $4M were not spent on a contract, then they would have been divided as a bonus to the current roster.
That being said, Oklahoma will spend $4M for one month, half of which are taxes and Real Madrid will receive a full buy-out of 1.5M euros for Deck. Even though their roster is hurt badly with this departure ahead of the upcoming EuroLeague playoffs, this buy-out is a great financial boost.
26-year-old Deck is expected to receive around 1.1M euros, which still remains a lucrative deal for a month’s work. Since the next three seasons of the deal are not guaranteed, he may end up being a free agent this summer.
