The EuroLeague playoffs are set with Zenit clinching the last ticket on Monday and teams will receive their annual payout, a total distribution of 35.5M euros.
As reported by Sport5’s Roi Cohen, the clubs to have finished in the spots 1-14 will receive between 150.000 euros and 1.5 million euros for their final standings payout, based on the 79-21% market/sports pool distribution that has been approved by EuroLeague prior to this season’s tip-off.
The exact numbers for the sports pool distribution which is 21% of the total team revenues directly from the EuroLeague go as follows:
- Barcelona: 1.5M€
- CSKA Moscow: 850k€
- Anadolu Efes: 750k€
- Olimpia Milano: 650k€
- Bayern Munich: 600k€
- Real Madrid: 550k€
- Fenerbahce: 500k€
- Zenit: 450k€
- Valencia: 400k€
- Baskonia: 350k€
- Zalgiris: 300k€
- Olympiacos: 250k€
- Maccabi Tel Aviv: 200k€
- ASVEL: 150k€
*Teams ranked 15-18 are not eligible for the sports pool payout
Last July, EuroLeague approved this new balance of revenue distribution (as opposed to a 54% market pool last season) to the clubs for the 2020-21 season in order to increase their financial stability and help them recover after the COVID-19 pandemic and the cancelation of the previous campaign.
This, in practice, means that EuroLeague has implemented a plan where 79% of the revenue will be distributed according to the broadcasting rights and marketing agreements, and 21% according to the final standings. Teams that have finished between positions 15-18 will not receive a sports pool revenue but still remain eligible for their market pool one, which is a significant boost in times of the COVID crisis.
