Pau Gasol, after being sidelined for about two years, recently returned to action with FC Barcelona competing in both the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and ACB.
“I am improving every day. Every day is a new test,” he told Barca TV describing his status, “It was a long time since I competed. I had to be patient. I am very pleased with the progress made so far.”
Gasol, 40, went for nine points, four rebounds, and one assist lasting 13 minutes in his first EuroLeague appearance in a couple of decades. At the domestic level, he averaged 6.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per contest over three appearances in the Spanish league.
“I have put pressure on my body over the years,” he added, “Everyone must understand his condition. It is key to remain on the right track.”
The Spanish powerhouse hosts Zenit Saint-Petersburg later today, Wednesday, and Friday to start the best-of-five series determining one of the Final Four slots of the 2020-21 EuroLeague season.
“The important games start now,” he mentioned, “Hopefully, our team can prove it deserves to be in the Final Four among the best in the competition. I hope to contribute. Helping the team is a positive.”
