CSKA Moscow ranked fourth in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four held at Cologne, Germany. Following the loss to AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milano, Tornike Shengelia summed up the 2020-21 campaign, his first at CSKA, to Eurohoops.
“I think we did a great job considering all our ups-and-downs and adversities,” he mentioned after logging a game-high 18 points in the consolation affair, “The whole team and the coaching staff did an amazing job to go through these adversities, stick together and become stronger. I am really proud of my team.”
The Russian powerhouse was aiming to be part of the championship game, instead of the third-place game of the Final Four.
“Obviously, the Final Four did not go the way we wanted. These things happen. I believe we will come back stronger,” said Shengelia, “After every failure, like in this Final Four, you need to get up with extra motivation for the next season.”
Coming up for CSKA, the VTB United League Finals best-of-five series versus UNICS Kazan planned to start Monday, June 6.
