Rodrigue Beaubois largely influenced the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four semifinal versus CSKA Moscow and went on with three points against FC Barcelona in the championship game held Sunday.
“It’s amazing. It’s still tough to believe it. But yes, we did it,” the French guard told Eurohoops shortly following the EuroLeague final at Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany.
Beaubois, 33, joined the Turkish powerhouse in 2018. Lots have changed since, mainly due to the coronavirus pandemic, but his team has largely remained the same.
“We knew we had something special in the first season. We had to stop the second season. But this year we went to get it,” he mentioned going through those three years, “We are so proud and so happy. And we are going to celebrate. This is a big moment for all of us.”
“We worked three seasons for this title. Now that it’s official, you can’t understand how happy we all are,” he added, “I don’t know if I am going to sleep. It has been three years. I think tonight we are going to celebrate as much as possible. If I fall asleep, then I fall asleep. But I don’t think so.”
Beaubois with a total of 18 points in the Final Four ended up with 10.6 points per game this season, his sixth in Europe’s premier club competition, plus 1.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per contest.
