Anadolu Efes and Maccabi Tel Aviv are the current frontrunners for the acquisition of Zalgiris Kaunas guard Thomas Walkup according to Eurohoops sources. Walkup becomes a free agent when the season in Lithuania is over.
Olympiacos Piraeus is also interested in signing Walkup, Eurohoops has learned, however more clubs may also be in the mix, since the Zalgiris player has emerged as one of the most coveted point guard of the summer market.
Walkup, 28, averaged 8.2 points, 4.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 24:09 minutes over 34 games of the 2020-21 EuroLeague. He was recently included on Eurohoops’ list of the top 10 point guard free agents.
Donatas Urbonas first reported that Efes “appeared in the race” for Walkup.
