The 11 EuroLeague clubs that hold an A license have been appointed as directors of the ECA (EuroLeague Commercial Assets) Board.
Those clubs are Anadolu Efes, Barcelona, Baskonia, CSKA Moscow, Fenerbahce Beko, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Olimpia Milano, Olympiacos Piraeus, Panathinaikos Athens, Real Madrid, and Zalgiris Kaunas.
The appointment of the 11 A-license teams as directors of the ECA board responds to the demand of the clubs to be more involved in the business, as was announced after the Executive Board meeting on April 26. According to EuroLeague sources, this does not change the decision-making process, which has always sit at the clubs and will continue to be the same.
Clubs are the owners of the EuroLeague and as it always happened, they decide how they manage their collective property. Whether EuroLeague CEO Jordi Bertomeu is a director of the board or not is a formality that does not change the way the company is managed. He continues to be the CEO of the company with the exact same responsibilities as before.
