Pierria Henry is the new starting point guard of Fenerbahce BEKO Istanbul, which is creating a formidable roster. After the additions of Marial Shayok and Devin Booker, plus the extension of Nando De Colo and Dyshawn Pierre, Fenerbahce got their starting point guard.
The US point guard, who is now officially also a Senegalese citizen and has received his passport, will play in the Olympic Qualifiers with the Senegalese national team. Henry signed a 1+1 deal with the Turkish club.
Henry averaged 10.5 points, 7.3 assists, and 1.3 steals in 34 games of the EuroLeague regular season with Baskonia, emerging as one of the most coveted free agents of the summer.
It has to be noted that initially, Baskonia had a deal with Real Madrid in order to sell them the “tanteo” rights of the player. However, the “tanteo” right, the Spanish version of the restricted free agency, applies only to Spanish teams according to the local league rules.
Baskonia ultimately preferred to not sell Henry to Madrid, but on the other hand lost him for free, while the “Whites” have a deal with Nigel Williams-Goss in order to boost their backcourt.
The 28-years old guard had a break-out season in Europe back in the 2018-19 season with Unics Kazan, after turning heads in the NBA Summer League with the Boston Celtics.
