A move that was first reported almost a month ago finally became official. Achille Polonara left Baskonia for Fenerbahce, signing a 2+1 contract with his new club.\
Polonara, 29, put up 12.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.2 steals per Turkish Airlines EuroLeague appearance in a breakout season. At the domestic level, he averaged 11.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game in the Spanish Liga Endesa.
The Italian forward joined Baskonia back in 2019 for his first stint outside the Italian borders, emerging as a key member of the team which won the Spanish League title in the 2020 bubble.
He has also played for Teramo, Varese, Reggiana, and Dinamo Sassari, while being a key member of the Italian national team.
Polonara helped Italy win a silver medal at the 2011 U20 European Championships, and lifted the FIBA Europe Cup trophy with Sassari in 2019.
Fenerbahce has already made a number of key moves for next season, signing Devin Booker, Pierria Henry, and Marial Shayok, while keeping Nando De Colo and also Dyshawn Pierre. However, the team is not done yet and at least two more players are expected to be added to the roster.
