Daryl Macon Jr. has signed a 1+1 contract with Panathinaikos OPAP, the team announced Monday. Eurohoops had reported on his done deal with the Greens.
“Signing with Panathinaikos was an unbelievable feeling,” he said, per the press release, “I feel grateful for the big opportunity to display my talents. My goal is for me to play at the highest level possible and improve to help Panathinaikos achieve its goals.”
Macon, 25, will debut in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague after introducing himself to the European club competition stage via the Basketball Champions League last season. He appeared in 12 BCL fixtures split between Galatasaray and AEK.
The explosive guard coming out of Arkansas went undrafted in 2018. However, he logged eight NBA matches attached to the Dallas Mavericks during the 2018-19 season. Last summer, he opted to join Galatasaray and arrived in Greece for AEK in January.
Panathinaikos, besides naming Dimitris Priftis as head coach, has already added Kendrick Perry to its squad. Also, Nemanja Nedovic and Ioannis Papapetrou have re-signed.
