An official reaction to reports regarding Igor Kokoskov heading from Fenerbahce Beko to the Dallas Mavericks. Sertac Komsuoglu, a board member of the Turkish club responsible for basketball operations, released a statement on Tuesday.
“Our only priority in the process is to protect club interests. All our steps are taken according to this principle,” he wrote in the letter directed to the fans of Fenerbahce after confirming the interest coming from the NBA.
Kokoskov, 49, is currently under contract with the Turkish powerhouse. However, the Mavs bringing him back to the NBA as an assistant to head coach Jason Kidd are expected to buy out the contract.
“Our club is evaluating the subject and necessary explanations will be made as soon as possible,” added Komsuoglu.
