Emmanuel Mudiay is close to a deal with Zalgiris Kaunas, according to Basket News’ Donatas Urbonas. This would be the American guard’s first stint in Europe.
Mudiay entered the NBA as the 7th overall pick by the Denver Nuggets in the 2015 Draft. In his five years in the league, he played for the Nuggets, New York Knicks, and the Utah Jazz.
He averaged 14.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.9 assists with the Knicks in 2018-19 which was his best season. He last played for the Jazz during the 2020-21 campaign and that was the year the current Zalgiris coach worked for Utah’s G League affiliate the Salt Lake City Stars.
Mudiay didn’t play a single game during the past year as he was awaiting his chance in the NBA, despite receiving offers from the G Leauge and Europe.
