The preseason of CSKA Moscow starts this week, however, one more key player may be added to the roster.

As president Andrey Vatutin admitted during an interview with Russian news outlet “Sport-Express“, the roster is still incomplete.

Vatutin was asked on the matter of more signings and he explained: “We can register one more player for both tournaments (Euroleague and VTB). Probably, for the first time in many years, we will begin preparations for the season with an incomplete squad. We are looking at what is happening in the NBA market, there is a lot of movement now, so I do not exclude that there will still be a signing. There is no hurry, we are exploring options”.

Vatutin may of course be referring to Kevin Pangos. The Canadian point guard is one of the most coveted names in European basketball, however his priority this summer was to get an NBA deal. With Pangos still being a free agent, CSKA may hope to finally get him.

The CSKA president also talked about the addition of Alexey Shved and he implied that his contract is not what it used to be: “Any negotiation process implies a certain compromise between each of the parties. I think it is wrong to single out any separate concessions on the part of a player or a club. Probably, many will note that after three three-year contracts, Alexey signed a 1+1 contract. But, for me, this is a working, quite understandable moment. Alexey himself expressed a great desire to play with us, reacted with great joy to the opportunity to return, and his transaction did not add a significant cost”.
