Maccabi presents traveling issues for preseason tournaments

Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv announced that the team is currently not permitted to travel to Greece and Cyprus for preseason tournaments due to restrictions stemming from the latest health and safety guidelines issued by Israel’s Ministry of Health regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

The Israeli powerhouse preparing for the 2021-22 edition of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and domestic competitions has confirmed participation in three preseason tournaments. Those are tournaments approved by EuroLeague, as noted.

Maccabi requested the scheduled friendly contests to be treated as official games by the government of Israel seeking a way to make the trips to Greece and Cyprus.

The team led by Giannis Sfairopoulos is slated in a tournament hosted by Panathinaikos OPAP and additionally featuring Anadolu Efes and Partizan NIS. The second tournament in Greece has Olympiacos with AS Monaco and Lavrio Megabolt, while the Cyprus trip again brings on the Reds plus CSKA Moscow and Zenit Saint-Petersburg.
