Baskonia completed the City of Cagliari Tournament undefeated securing first place by topping Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari, 84-72, on Saturday. Alec Peters packing 15 points and Wade Baldwin IV with 14 points of his own led the way. Rokas Giedraitis followed with 13 points and Landry Nnoko posted a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double.
FC Bayern Munich settled for third place in the Cagliari tournament after beating Gevi Napoli, 69-54. Ognjen Jaramaz and Darrun Hilliard shared a team-high 11 points, Andreas Obst added ten points, and Gavin Schilling paired his eight points with eight rebounds.
Zenit, in its preseason opener ahead of the next edition of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, defeated fellow VTB United League member, Parma, 98-74. Billy Baron registered 22 points and newcomer Shabazz Napier finished with 14 points.
Earlier, AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milano faced Cantu in a scrimmage featuring four 10-minute periods with scores and fouls reset after each quarter. Nicolo Melli put up the first point and Shavon Shields made the first field goal, a three-pointer, in his side’s first unofficial action of the season. Malcolm Delaney did not play.
