Slightly short of two months after joining UNICS Kazan, Will Thomas has been officially released by the Russian team.
Thomas, 35, penned a deal to join UNICS on July 14. He was then set to extend his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague career beyond his 144 appearances with Unicaja Malaga, Valencia, and most recently Zenit Saint-Petersburg. With his contract terminated, he returns to the list of free agents available.
The former George Mason standout has been all around Europe since beginning his pro career in 2008. Belgium, Turkey, Georgia, and Italy shaped his early experiences prior to his EuroLeague debut.
As a member of Zenit last season, his contributions amounted to 9.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 0.7 steals per EuroLeague match, and 11.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per VTB United League contest.
