While EuroLeague teams have entered full preparation mode ahead of the 2021-22 season that begins on September 30 there’s one that hasn’t been able to even have a full practice.
Maccabi Tel Aviv has been hit by a small coronavirus outbreak and has been forced to cancel all of its preseason games, including appearances in tournaments. The situation has been quite difficult and the Israeli powerhouse will manage to get things going just one week before the new EuroLeague season begins, as general manager Nikola Vujcic mentioned.
“It’s tough and nobody wants to face this kind of things,” Maccabi Tel Aviv general manager Vujcic said. “We won’t have players before 20 of September to have the first team practice. It’s challenging. It’s something that we will need to find solutions. And improve our patience because we know it’s going to be tough.
“I just hope one thing: That we will have our fans in our home in full capacity,” Vujcic added. “This can help us and save us to get out of this mess because players always play better in a full gym. I hope that we’re going to build a fortress… like two years ago when we were unbeatable at home. This is the key to get out of this mess.”
