Will Thomas has signed a one-year deal to join AS Monaco, the team announced Monday. His arrival to the French team was previously reported.
Thomas, 35, comes in for La Roca Team shortly after parting ways with UNICS Kazan before officially starting his stint at the Russian club. His contract with the fellow Turkish Airlines EuroLeague participant was terminated on September 2.
The former George Mason standout spent the previous two years at Zenit Saint-Petersburg playing in the VTB United League and EuroLeague. His overall experience at the top level of club competition in Europe includes previous stints at Valencia and Unicaja Malaga. He has averaged 8.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per EuroLeague contest over a total of 144 appearances.
Last season, he registered 9.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per match in the EuroLeague, and 11.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per VTB game.
Prior to the experience labeling him as a EuroLeague expert, Thomas had played in Belgium, Georgia, Turkey, and Italy through his pro career entirely focused on the Old Continent. The 2021-22 season sends him to France for the first time.
His new team revamping its roster this summer had already brought in Brock Motum, Alpha Diallo, Donatas Motiejunas, Donta Hall, Leo Westermann, Yakuba Ouattara, Ibrahima Fall Faye, Rudy Demahis, Paris Lee, Armel Traore, Jerry Boutsiele, and Danilo Andjusic to pair them with Rob Gray and Rudy Demahis under the head coaching lead of Zvezdan Mitrovic.
Monaco will host Panathinaikos OPAP in the 2021-22 EuroLeague opener scheduled to take place on September 30.
