In the second season out of Stanford, Oscar da Silva will play with ALBA Berlin in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. He inked a three-year contract, his new team announced Thursday.
da Silva, 23, went undrafted this summer, after launching his pro career at MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg. He registered 7.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game helping his side rank first in the easyCredit BBL Regular Season and added 5.3 points per Playoffs contest as Ludwigsburg was eliminated by FC Bayern Munich in the semifinals of the German League.
“The ALBA coaching staff is strongly focused on developing and playing young players. I am looking forward to taking the next step in this environment and do all I can for ALBA to remain on top of the German League and improve in the EuroLeague,” noted the newcomer, per the press release. ALBA captured its tenth domestic title defeating Bayern in four games last June.
His recent NBA Summer League experience with the Oklahoma City Thunder generated 7.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per match over four appearances in Las Vegas.
“I am delighted we were able to sign another promising young player in Oscar,” said ALBA head coach Israel Gonzalez, “He can play as a power forward and as a center. He will help us a lot in those positions.”
The ALBA newcomer spent four years at Stanford averaging career-highs 18.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in his senior season. He has also competed in international junior tournaments representing Germany.
Jaleen Smith and Yovel Zoosman plus Tamir Blatt coming back from loan will be the other new faces for ALBA at the start of the 2021-22 EuroLeague season.
