Malcolm Delaney has been forced out of action for at least three weeks after suffering a strain on the hamstring of his left thigh, AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milano announced Friday.
Per the press release: “Olimpia Milano reports that Malcolm Delaney, during the closing minutes, of yesterday’s EuroLeague game against ASVEL Villeurbanne, suffered a strain on the hamstring of his left thigh. The player will be re-evaluated in three weeks.”
Delaney, 32, had 12 points and three assists in Thursday’s win opposite LDLC ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne. The experienced guard, former Virginia Tech standout, was averaging 12.8 points per game from the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 2 to yesterday’s Round 5 fixture.
“Just when I was feeling good,” he noted commenting on the injury via a post on his personal Twitter account, “Best shape in a long time. But just a minor setback. I will pick up better than where I left off in a few weeks.”
Ettore Messina’s side improved to 5-0 with Troy Daniels in a brief appearance making his EuroLeague debut after his injury layoff stretching back to the beginning of the season. One player back, but another player out as Delaney joins the list of unavailable players along with Davide Alviti and Riccardo Moraschini.
