David Lighty will be out for at least the next two months, LDLC ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne announced Monday.

Lighty, 33, suffered an injury on his right hand during the Betclic Elite LNB Pro A Regular Season Round 7 loss to Paris on Saturday. He has been slated for surgery with the best-case scenario to return in early January.

He had scored 19 points behind 7/11 field goals in last week’s home win against UNICS Kazan. The French champions upped their Turkish Airlines EuroLeague W-L tally to 6-2 in an impressive start but will attempt to sustain the momentum without Lighty.

The ASVEL longtimer re-signed until the conclusion of the 2025-26 season last July, before launching his seventh campaign overall and fifth in a row at the team based in Villeurbanne, a suburb of Lyon, France.

Since returning from the personal leave, he logged 10.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 0.8 steals per EuroLeague contest over four appearances, all as a member of the starting unit. In four domestic matches, he had 7.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game aiding his side get to 5-2.

Besides the Ohio State standout, experienced guard Antoine Diot will miss three to four weeks with a calf injury, picked up during the game versus UNICS. Also, Raymar Morgan will be out until the end of 2021 after the recent operation on his injured back.

The team coached by T.J. Parker, younger brother of team owner and retired player Tony Parker, is scheduled to visit Crvena Zvezda mts in EuroLeague Regular Season Round 9 action on Thursday.
