Real Madrid captain Sergio Llull apologized on social media for making an obscene gesture towards fans of Barcelona at the end of the EuroLeague Clasico between the two Spanish powerhouses.

A photo by Mundo Deportivo captured Llull giving the finger to Barca fans while he and the rest of the Real Madrid players headed to the locker room.  “My sincere apologies for the gesture yesterday. Despite the tension of the moment, it shouldn’t have happened,” tweeted Llull Saturday (11/12).

Barcelona prevailed with relative ease over archrival Real Madrid behind a career-high performance by star Nikola Mirotic. The game was quite intense with a lot of protests towards the referees, technical fouls and a hot atmosphere overall.

In some moments of the match, Barca fans were shouting “Where’s the plane?” at Real guard and former Blaugrana player Thomas Heurtel, a nod to the incident that took place last year in Istanbul.
