Both Achille Polonara and Marial Shayok are questionable to play versus Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv on Tuesday, Fenerbahce Beko announced Monday.
Polonara, 30, is sick and will be a game-time decision, as noted by the Turkish powerhouse. So far through his first season at Fener, he has logged 6.6 points, four rebounds, 0.8 steals, 0.7 assists, and 0.6 blocks per Turkish Airlines EuroLeague contest, and 10.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, one steal, and 0.4 blocks per game in Turkey’s BSL.
Shayok, 26, sidelined since last week due to a knee injury, will also be a game-time decision. He has contributed 5.3 points, 1.4 assists, and 1.3 rebounds per EuroLeague appearance, and 7.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per BSL contest.
In addition, Danilo Barthel will remain out at least through the top end of the next double-game week of the 2021-22 EuroLeague Regular Season. The German forward/center underwent arthroscopic surgery two months ago but is still feeling soreness in his knee.
On the opposite end, Roman Sorkin will be out for several more weeks with a left thumb injury. Jalen Reynolds is considered questionable for the next game after sitting out the last domestic fixture due to a sore neck. Despite missing the two big men, the team coached by Giannis Sfairopoulos managed to defeat Hapoel Altshuler Shaham Be’er Sheva Saturday.
The team based in Istanbul ranks 13th in EuroLeague packing a 5-9 record, while the Israeli side is further up in eighth place thanks to a 7-7 W-L tally.
