FC Barcelona announced Saturday that captain Pierre Oriola has tested positive for COVID-19, after tests that were conducted on December 23.
Oriola is the second case in the team, following Nigel Hayes. Barcelona is currently leading the EuroLeague standings at the end of the first leg of the regular season with a 15-2 record, despite also missing Nick Calathes, Cory Higgins and Alex Abrines due to respective injuries.
Sarunas Jasikevicius’ team faces MoraBanc Andorra on Tuesday (December 28) in the Spanish Liga Endesa and takes on Baskonia on the road in the EuroLeague for their final game of 2021.
