Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv’s scheduled Round 20 EuroLeague game against ALBA Berlin has been suspended per request of the German club, EuroLeague announced Friday.
This marks the fifth suspended game for Round 20 amid the COVID-19 outbreak in the EuroLeague. It should be noted that the entire Round 19 had to be postponed due to the spike of COVID positives.
Per EuroLeague:
The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 20 game Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv vs. ALBA Berlin, originally scheduled to be played on Wednesday, January 12, has been suspended. ALBA requested the suspension after several team members tested positive for COVID-19, which leaves the team without the minimum eight players on the Authorization List fit to play.
Following the Special Regulations due to COVID-19, approved by the ECA Shareholders Executive Board, each game can be rescheduled up to three times, if there are available dates. Euroleague Basketball will coordinate with the affected teams the best options to reschedule the games. Alternative dates will be announced on official Euroleague Basketball platforms.
