Darussafaka was more competitive than Thursday’s game against Fenerbahce and beat Crvena Zvezda 84-77 in the second day of the international tournament that takes place in Zadar.
A three-point shot by Jamon Lucas, 72 seconds before the end of the game, gave the Turkish team a seven-point advantage (80-73) and the win against the Serbians, who didn’t have time to make a big come-back.
Ender Arslan was the top scorer for the winners with 24 points, while Luke Harangody added 16. Stefan Nastic had 20 points and five rebounds for the losing squad, as Stefan Jovic added 17.
Darussafaka played better in the first quarter and was in front by six (22-16), however Crvena Zvezda came back in the second quarter and ended the first half with an one-point advantage (44-45), as they outscored their opponents 22-29.
In the second half, the match continued to be a derby, as none of the teams could retain a significant lead, with Oktay Mahmuti’s squad being in front by five points after 30 minutes in the game (64-59). Despite the Serbian’s effort to regain the lead in the last quarter, Darussafaka remained solid (81-77, 84-77) and won the game.
