Markel Starks has officially parted ways with Igokea to join Fenerbahce, the Bosnian club announced Saturday, confirming Eurohoops’ prior reports about the deal. Fenerbahce announced Starks’ addition Sunday.

Starks, 30, is set to make his EuroLeague debut with the Turkish side. He joined Igokea for the 2021-22 season and has been a top contributor in the team, providing an average of 12.7 points and 6.8 assists in the Basketball Champions League, while he posted 10.2 points and 5.6 assists per ABA League contest.

Igokea fell to Oostende in the BCL play-ins this week, while Starks was averaging 13.3 points and 7.3 assists in the three-game series.

Fenerbahce has to compensate for the injury of star Nando De Colo and even before that, there were rumors about the club adding one more backcourt option.

Starks is coming from a good start of the season, battle-tested in the Basketball Champions League, and ready to join his new team without needing a lot of time to adapt.
