Youngster Tristan Vuksevic officially moved to Partizan NIS Belgrade from Real Madrid last week, a move that was shocking to some but made sense to head coach Pablo Laso, as he explained during a media availability Tuesday.
“He needs time and I’m glad he’s going to a team where he can show his quality,” said Laso about the 18-year-old center.
“I only have good words for him. He has helped us a lot in the last two years and I am very proud that everyone asks about a player like Tristan. It means that we have done our job very well. He is a great player, he is going to grow a lot, he goes with one of the best coaches in Europe and it is a win-win for everyone. I wish him the best of luck.”
Prior to his departure from Madrid, Vukcevic posted an average of 3.3 points and 2.2 rebounds across 9 minutes on the court in 12 games played this season.
He’s expected to make his debut with Partizan against Joventut Badalona, in the upcoming Round 12 EuroCup meeting of the two Group A strong contenders (February 2, 21:00 CET).
