Real Madrid has reached an agreement with EuroLeague superstar Shane Larkin according to Mundo Deportivo. Larkin’s contract with Anadolu Efes is expiring and the American guard becomes a free agent, however, he denies the report.
Per Mundo Deportivo the deal is not completed yet, it is in advanced stages and Real has already agreed with Larkin to join them in the 2022 offseason. Larkin’s ACB rights are retained by Baskonia after the player’s 2016-2017 stint with the Basque side but the two clubs are negotiating for this aspect of the deal to be resolved.
Eurohoops can confirm the negotiations between the player and Real Madrid, while Larkin himself reacted on Eurohoops IG to the news with the following emoji and then by denying the report on a comment and also on his IG account.
If the transfer is completed then Real will be adding one of the most elite players outside the NBA over the last couple of years. Larkin has been a crucial part of Efes’ establishment as a powerhouse, leading them to the EuroLeague championship title of 2021, together with Vasilije Micic.
This season, Larkin has been averaging 14.8 points, 5.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds in EuroLeague.
