Maodo Lo scored a career-high 27 points on nearly perfect shooting along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds to lift ALBA Berlin to a 90-75 victory against Olympiacos Piraeus at home in Round 29 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
“I am so happy for Maodo Lo, because he is a great guy and he is playing with 100 percent effort. He’s got talent and he is in a good moment, so let’s take advantage of this moment”, commented ALBA coach Israel Gonzalez after the game.
Despite the key absences of Yovel Zoosman and Marcus Eriksson, ALBA put up a scoring feast from the three-point line (13/21, 62%) to dominate the Greek side in the final quarter and improve to a 9-12 record (11-16).
“ALBA played excellently, they had a really fantastic percentage of threes”, said coach Georgios Bartzokas. “I think they scored 4 threes on shot-clock situations. But they deserved to win the way they played. We need to look at ourselves about our defensive effort today.”
Jaleen Smith added 15 points for Gonzalez’s squad and Oscar Da Silva followed with 10 points and 7 rebounds as ALBA broke Olympiacos’ four-game winning streak.
Sasha Vezenkov neared double-double figures with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals for the visiting team, Hassan Martin added 15 points and 4 rebounds and Tyler Dorsey had 11 points. Olympiacos now drops to 15-8 (16-10) and remains fourth in the EuroLeague standings.
