After hurting his right shoulder in ACB action Sunday, Brandon Davies will miss FC Barcelona’s next three games, the team announced Monday.
Davies, 30, picked up the injury in the last minute of the ACB Regular Season Round 26 Catalonian derby opposite Joventut Badalona. Suffering the defeat forced the team guided by Lithuanian tactician Sarunas Jasikevicius down to 19-5, only half a game in front of archrival Real Madrid’s 19-6 on top of the Spanish League standings.
The former Brigham Young standout and veteran of 78 NBA games between the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets will miss all three fixtures featured through this week’s schedule, before getting reevaluated. Barca is set to visit UCAM Murcia Tuesday, Olympiacos Thursday, and MoraBanc Andorra Saturday furthering campaigns in both the ACB and Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
Having clinched first place in the EuroLeague Regular Season, Barcelona will be the top seed in the approaching Playoffs. Barring a setback, Davies is expected to be back in action before the Catalonian giant takes on the eighth seed with the home-court advantage in the best-of-three series. The Playoffs are scheduled to be held from April 19 through May 4. Surviving teams making the Final Four will battle at Belgrade’s Stark Arena between 19 and 21 May.
Davies has produced 10.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per contest over 29 appearances in the 2021-22 Regular Season of Europe’s premier club continental competition. In addition, he is averaging 10.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per ACB game.
