Barcelona coach Sarunas Jasikevicius began the post-game presser after the loss of his team to Maccabi Tel Aviv by addressing the latest shooting attack that took place in Tel Aviv, Israel Thursday (7/4) and resulted in two people being killed and several more being critically wounded.
“Before we talk about basketball, you probably heard about these horrible things happening right now in Tel Aviv. I’d like to say my deepest condolences to the families who are suffering from this,” Jasikevicius said. “Obviously, it’s a very special place for me for all the years I spent there. It’s really sad. I don’t remember the last time something like this happened in Tel Aviv. A lot of people are talking about the situation in the Middle East but for me, it was always one of the safest places to live and to have a good life over there, a normal life.”
Jasikevicius lived in Tel Aviv from 2003 to 2005 when he played for Maccabi. He won back-to-back EuroLeague championships with the Israeli powerhouse.
“Once again, I’m feeling really sorry about what happened. Hopefully, everyone who has a chance to survive will be OK,” Saras concluded.
