Panathinaikos OPAP announced that the new head coach of the team will be Georgios Vovoras who penned a deal until the end of the season.
“We all know very well what we have come for and the responsibility we have serving the Panathinaikos Association. We have a difficult situation ahead of us but also a great challenge and we want to be mentally and competitively ready to cope as befits Panathinaikos. We do not need to say more words, we bow our heads and we all work together as a team,” the coach said.
Vovoras worked as an assistant within Panathinaikos in two stints, 2012-2014 and 2016-2020, while he was the head coach of the team during the 2020-21 season.
Panathinaikos marked the past season in Euroleague as disappointing and the club decided to turn a new page, parting ways with Fragiskos Alvertis, Dimitris Priftis, Dimitris Diamantidis, Nikos Pappas, and Panagiotis Triantopoulos.
