Montenegrin tactician Zvezdan Mitrovic filed a case in the French first-degree court for disputes regarding the termination of contracts between employers and employees Conseil de prud’hommes demanding 1,167,848 euros from LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, according to French basketball news outlet Basket Actu.
The total amount is split into 481,464 euros corresponding to his wages from the date he was fired until the conclusion of his contract for wrongful dismissal, 297,740 euros for damages to his personal image, 210,000 euros for deciding to leave his job at the Montenegro national team to focus on Villeurbanne, and 178,644 euros for lump-sum compensation of additional work in April 2020.
Mitrovic, 52, was sacked in May 2020 and contested the decision of the French outfit seeking full financial compensation. Replacing him at the helm of the team based in the suburb of Lyon was his former assistant, T.J. Parker, the younger brother of retired player and team president Tony Parker.
As for Mitrovic, he moved on to AS Monaco joining La Roca Team for a second stint in July 2020. Leading his side to the 7DAYS EuroCup championship and thus clinching a place in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague for the first time in team history was combined with being named EuroCup Coach of the Year. After the run ended midway through the 2021-22 season, in December 2021, he was replaced by Sasha Obradovic.
